Q & A with Coach Michael Stinnett

Senior Chris Miller recently sat down with Michael Stinnett, the new Beth Haven head boys’ basketball coach, to discuss his new position and what brought him here.

Chris Miller – Why did you take this job?

Coach Stinnett – After coaching 23 straight years, I had taken a break from coaching. The ministry of Beth Haven and the basketball atmosphere attracted me to Beth Haven.

CM – What other school have you coached at?

CS – Owensboro High School and Iroquois High School.

CM – What are your expectations for Beth Haven basketball?

CS – Putting young men on the court that represent Christ and really improve each year. That and to be on the door of the state tournament.

CM – What coaching philosophy do you coach with?

CS – It depends on the personnel of the team. We want to play hard with 100% effort.

CM – If you could describe the team in one word what would it be?

CS – Improving.

CM – If you could send a message to the student body, what would it be?

CS – Come out to the game, because you are going to see fun basketball.

CM – Do you attend a church?

CS – Valley View.

CM – Do you have a family?

CS –  I have a wife of 20 years and a 5-year-old son.

CM – Did you have any prior association with anyone from Beth Haven?

CS – Coach (Joe) Bailey, Jody Bailey and Coach (Brad) Morgan.

CM –What is at least one thing you want each player to achieve by the end of the season?

CS – Confidence in Beth Haven basketball – confidence in our program – and to believe that we are as good as any program in the city.
