The 2013 KHSAA 5th Region Golf Tournament kicked off play Sept. 30 as the Beth Haven golf team took to South Park Golf Course in Fairdale to face well-known teams such as Pleasure Ridge Park, Butler and DeSales.
The Beth Haven golf team had a difficult day to say the least, combining to score a 448 in 18-hole tournament, a season-high. Logan Davis shot a season-high 101 (58, 43); only two strokes over his season average on the front nine to finish with a 43, but the back nine was a mental breakdown-type of nine holes. Our No. 2 golfer, Kyle Hampton, shot a season-high 113 (52, 61) and No. 3 Hunter Judd came in with his season average of 108(56, 52). The No. 4 golfer, Robbie Meredith, shot a 126(65, 61), and Punit Naran ended the scoring with a 131 (71, 60), also a season-high.
It was a rough day for the Beth Haven golfers, but without any seniors, the Bearcats are to build towards a strong season in 2014 when they will have three seniors and an experienced and skilled golf team. The location for the 2014 KHSAA 5th Region Golf Tournament has not been announced yet, but the team is hoping for a course that they can practice and get familiar with- unlike this year’s course, and place higher next year.
