The purpose of BETA Club is to encourage and teach students to lead and serve others while pursuing academic excellence. Participation in this exclusive organization requires the student to exhibit the qualities of academic achievement, character, leadership, and service.
Note: Students in National Honors Society at BHCS will participate in BETA activities, yet have the additional academic membership requirement of maintaining a 3.5 GPA or higher on a 4.0 scale. Click here for more details.
Junior BETA Pledge: (Grades 6-8)
I hereby declare that I shall always strive to be honest and truthful at all times; to maintain a creditable scholastic record; to be of service to my teachers and fellowmen; to conduct myself in an ethical and moral manner to reflect credit upon my school and community.
Senior BETA Pledge: (Grades 9-12)
I do solemnly declare that I shall always strive to hold fast to the principles of honesty; to endeavor constantly to maintain an admirable reputation; and to develop the foundation of character, service, and leadership in my life. I also pledge to cooperate with fellow members of The National Beta Club. I will encourage an individual responsibility to improve my school, community, state and nation. I will defend a high standard of morality and join with my club to contribute to the improvement of our entire student body.

The scholastic requirements for membership in this chapter of National Junior/Senior Beta shall be:
- Enrolled in grades 6-12 and have attended BHCS for at least one academic quarter
- Be an active member of a local Christian church, attending regularly
- Have at least a 3.0 GPA
- Completion of a minimum of service hours:
- 6th grade: 10 hrs
- 7th and 8th grade: 15 hrs
- 9th through 12th grade: 20 hrs
- National Honor’s Society: 5 additional hours per year; Minimum 3.5 GPA
- If a member has uncompleted service hours, the unserved hours will carry over as an additional requirement for the following year. See Article 5 in Constitution for more information.
- All remaining service hours must be completed during a student’s senior year prior to graduation.

All awards will be given at the end of each school year. Standard awards are as follows:
Bronze and silver awards will consist of special BETA issued certificates of merit. The gold level award will be an engraved commemorative wooden and metal plaque. The bearcat star award can only be awarded at the end of a student’s completion of middle school or high school. The bearcat star award is an engraved glass star that will commemorate a student’s cumulative volunteer hours throughout Junior BETA, Senior BETA, or both.
